Besides teaching I have been actively involved in research in the field of Atomic Spectroscopy of multiply ionized atoms. The main focus has been the structure determination of complex atoms/ions. The analyses are performed with the help of calculations by Cowan's code program based on Relativistic Hartree-Fock multi-configuration interaction theory, and least squares fitted (LSF) parametric calculations. The program calculates energy eigenvalues, wavelength of emitted radiations, transition probabilities as well as oscillator strength and life time of the excited states. The experimental data on ionized atoms were generated by various sources like Triggered spark and sliding spark and spectra were recorded in extreme vacuum ultraviolet to visible wavelength region within the uncertainty limit of ±0.005 . Our studies lead to determine ionization potential of the ions up to the accuracy of ± 0.02 eV. The papers have been published in Physica Scripta (Sweden) and Journal of the Korean Physical Society.
